All of the family of
NATIONAL FORUM JOURNALS
require that writers who submit manuscripts follow the latest technical
specifications set in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological
Association,
Most Current Edition. |
|
|
MANUSCRIPTS
|
|
Manuscripts must be typed double-spaced in a fixed-pitch
font (ex. Courier) and typically be 10-50 pages. Please do not use
italics. Please submit manuscripts on a 3.5 diskette, using IBM-format
Microsoft Word 2000 word processing software.
|
|
The
ON-LINE SCHOLARLY ELECTRONIC JOURNAL DIVISION OF
NATIONAL FORUM JOURNALS requires four hard copies of the
manuscript. Writers must include an abstract of 100-150 words. The
writer’s name, title, affiliation, telephone number, fax number,
complete address, and the date of submission must be on a separate cover
page, and only on this page to ensure anonymity in the refereeing and
reviewing process. Authors must include on a separate page a brief
biographical summary of 50-75 words.
|
|
|
PROCESSING FEE |
|
At the time a manuscript is submitted for publication,
the writer, institution, or agency must include a non-refundable
processing fee of $30. This fee covers the initial screening and
evaluation of the manuscript by the editorial staff.
|
|
|
PROFESSIONAL SERVICE FEE
|
|
Many professional publications are financed by
associations as a part of their dues structures.
NATIONAL
FORUM JOURNALS has no such luxury. The ON-LINE SCHOLARLY
ELECTRONIC JOURNAL DIVISION OF NATIONAL
FORUM JOURNALS is a self-supported unit. This enables our
publications to remain completely independent, non-biased, and diverse
in the refereeing, review, assessment, evaluation, and publication
process. When a manuscript is recommended for publication by the
NATIONAL EDITORIAL REVIEW BOARD, the author(s), associated
institution, school, or agency is expected to submit a pre-specified
nominal professional service fee. This fee simply helps us to cover
expenses relative to expediting the refereeing and review process,
evaluating, examining, and communicating about the manuscript, along
with other constant escalating costs of advertising, marketing, and
promoting the particular literary work at the national and international
dissemination levels. |
|
|
HOW TO DETERMINE YOUR PROFESSIONAL SERVICE FEE
|
|
The professional service fee is simple to calculate. It
is determined by the number of authors and the length of the manuscript.
The first author is assessed $100, second author $90, third author $80,
fourth author $70, fifth author $60, and sixth author $50. Also, $25.00
per double-spaced page, typed in a fixed-pitch font (ex: Courier). Each
table or figure is assessed $50.00. Each reference is assessed $10.00.
There is a $150.00 administrative manuscript fee. |
| |
|
For example,
|
|
a co-authored 10-page manuscript with two tables and five
references would cost $740.00 ($190.00 authors + $250.00 page fee +
$100.00 two tables/figures + $50.00 references + $150.00 administrative
manuscript fee = $740.00). |

A Note
About Our Professional Service Fees |
|
Let me briefly explain a bit
about our professional service fee. As you know, large
associations finance most professional journals as part of their dues
structure. We have no such luxury. Each National FORUM Journal publication is a self-supported journal. Since founded in 1983,
National FORUM Journals has remained financially healthy.
|
|
The cost of publishing continue
to rise. We pledge to our authors, readers, referees, and friends the
highest possible quality journal. |
|
When members of our national
board recommend a manuscript for national publication, the author,
institution, school or agency is expected to submit a pre-specified
nominal professional service fee. This is not a publication fee.
This fee simply helps cover expenses relative to processing, evaluating,
examining, and communicating about the manuscript, along with other
escalating costs of advertising, marketing, and promoting the particular
issues at the national and international levels. |
|
In most cases, institutions that
support publishing and academic scholarship pay the professional
service fee. In cases where institutional support is not
forthcoming, authors share the costs. In still other cases. a small
percentage of authors decide to withdrawal their manuscripts. |
|
Our goal is to help in the global
circulation of ideas to promote the kind of professional dialogue that
will move our profession forward. We appreciate your support. We will
continue to earn it. |
